Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts
I enjoyed looking at exhibitions in the Urban Institute for Contemporary Art UICA yesterday..."Coming Home" includes various artists and installations through March, 2016. If you can, definitely check out Jerry Gretzinger is a Michigan artist whose works embody themes of mapping and making real the imagined. His huge, massive "map" is a fabulous collage of an imagined city/world--very interesting. Also, Sandra Wilcoxon shows a wide range of skulls--it's unusual--you need to see it. "Embellished Bones" explores the theme of memento-mori while honoring the spirit of the animals used in her work. Sandra Wilcoxon served as the first Executive Director at UICA. 2 Fulton Street West in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
