Art in the Sky Billboard

I am incredibly excited to have a billboard on US127 just north of St. Johns!!!!! I am on the west side of 127, 4 miles north of exit 99, Old 27, for St. Johns--by a store with big chairs on its roof. And my neighboring billboard artist is Kimberly Lavon--WOW!!! Many thanks to the Arts Council of Greater Lansing and Adams Advertising!

Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts

I enjoyed looking at exhibitions in the Urban Institute for Contemporary Art  UICA yesterday..."Coming Home" includes various artists and installations through March, 2016. If you can, definitely check out Jerry Gretzinger is a Michigan artist whose works embody themes of mapping and making real the imagined. His huge, massive "map" is a fabulous collage of an imagined city/world--very interesting. Also, Sandra Wilcoxon shows a wide range of skulls--it's unusual--you need to see it. "Embellished Bones" explores the theme of memento-mori while honoring the spirit of the animals used in her work. Sandra Wilcoxon served as the first Executive Director at UICA.  2 Fulton Street West in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Found by a Friend...

Just sharing...

Once upon a time,
When women were birds,
There was the simple understanding
That to sing at dawn
And to sing at dusk
Was to heal the world through joy.
The birds still remember what we have forgotten,
That the world is meant to be celebrated.

- Terry Tempest Williams, When Women Were Birds

New Finger Knitters in Dansville, Michigan!

I enjoyed an afternoon of finger knitting fun at the Dansville Public Library on Saturday!  What a wonderful group of enthusiastic knitters!  They were all extremely adept at knitting without ANY needles--what a great group--and all ages.  Three motivated knitters made scarves for this fall.  Many thanks to the Library for being excellent hosts!
All right, he's not REALLY texting and knitting at the same time!  Some finger knitters have a sense of humor...
