From: Marney Makridakis, ARTELLA

Slow down and focus on what is most important.
Here are some ideas of things to do when you "do nothing":

  1. Look around you and inside you.
  2. Listen within you and outside of you.
  3. Allow your mind to wander and see where it goes.
  4. Befriend your intuition.
  5. Focus on your "one word". (i.e., just close your eyes and think about breathing "joy" in and out...)
  6. Make new connections between things and ideas.
  7. Breathe deeply. Focus on your breath, and nothing else.
  8. Notice ordinary and extraordinary details around you.
  9. Really, REALLY do nothing.

Purse knitted with yarn & VHS tape

Check out artists at both Grove Gallery CoOp and Mackerel Sky Gallery in East Lansing on Thursday, 5-8PM.  Both galleries will host special studio demonstrations and provide refreshments in celebration of American Craft Week.  Felt hat maker, Anne Flora, will be at Mackerel Sky (211 MAC Ave).  Resident artists will be at Grove Gallery CoOp (325 Grove Street). I'll be knitting with recycled materials so join in the fun!

Raggedy Silky Cowl

This scarf is knitted with fabric strips, connected as yarn, from recycled silk saris.  The variations in color and texture make for a playful and unique knitted cowl.  This is definitely a one-day project, quick to knit and fun to wear!
